The exposed piping through your kitchen and bathrooms sinks is particularly vulnerable to freezing. When the temperatures drop, open the cabinets to allow warm air to circulate through that area. You may place a space heater inclined to that area as well should you be particularly concerned. Letting the faucet slowing drip will likely prevent bursting. Moving drinking water requires a lower temperature to freeze than water that is standing in a pipe. There should be enough insulation on your walls and ceilings to prevent frozen pipes. Insulation allows your home to remain warmer in the winter months and cooler in the summer months. With proper insulation, you will not only look after your pipes, you will save funds on your energy bills as well.
